Many of you have been waiting for this… and I’m thrilled to announce the call for entries in the 2021 Rally® Awards!
This is our second time hosting this global competition that recognizes and celebrates excellence in Recruitment Marketing and employer branding practices by individuals, teams and employers. Once again, we’re ready to honor and showcase the most creative and effective digital marketing and social media strategies that made an impact in how your company attracts, engages and recruits talent. Are you ready to submit your work for consideration or nominate a deserving practitioner? Read on for how to enter!
In 2020 we recognized 30 winners across 13 categories in a live virtual awards ceremony that brought together hundreds of Recruitment Marketing and employer branding professionals to celebrate the accomplishments of their peers. I found it really heartwarming and uplifting to see so many congratulations and shout-outs pouring in during the ceremony for the winners. We also awarded two distinguished honors: Recruitment Marketer of the Year to Chloé Rada from Sodexo and Recruitment Marketing Rising Star to Dani Kaufman with PetSmart. Their live acceptance speeches were a clarion call for others to be bold in this new profession and to not be shy about pushing the envelope to help move their company forward.
How are the Rally Award winners selected?
The Rally Awards is a peer-reviewed competition for in-house practitioners. An independent panel of esteemed practitioners are asked to judge the submissions based on criteria such as quality of work, innovation and measurable results. We’re looking for employer brand and Recruitment Marketing work that has achieved exceptional results and that leads the way in creating true best practices in our industry, as well as looking to recognize leading and emerging practitioners who are trailblazers that represent both the breakthroughs and the future of our industry.
What does it take to win a Rally Award?
If you’re wondering what an award-winning entry looks like, here are a few first place and second place examples from our 2020 Rally Award winners to get you inspired:
PwC, 2nd place in Best Content Marketing Program
In order to stand out and engage all high-potential undergraduate and graduate students in a fun and relevant way, PwC evolved their traditional on-campus PowerPoint presentation to an interactive, choose-your-own-adventure video format that brings to life how a career at PwC will exceed students’ expectations.
Students are able to answer polls on their phones to select which employee story videos they want to watch. Throughout the videos, the students learn more about PwC’s employees and their unique lives, the opportunities for limitless potential at the organization and the dynamic company culture.
Cisco, 1st place in Best Employer Brand Video
The Cisco team set out to create content that could reach in-demand, passive talent pools in software, security and cloud. In addition to reaching these talent markets, they wanted to showcase the diversity of their organization. The team did this by putting real employees front and center to exemplify their EVP tagline, “Be you. With Us. #WeAreCisco” — which was created from employee feedback.
To take their content to the next level, Cisco created a “mini-movie” as the cornerstone piece. This was then complemented by a set of vignette videos highlighting different functional roles. These vignette videos were all connected to the main video and each other. To make the videos even more engaging the team hid “easter eggs,” like coding challenges for developer candidates to find and solve.
Xanterra, 2nd place in Best Use of Employee Generated Content
As part of the Xanterra Travel Collection family, Yellowstone National Park Lodges is responsible for hiring 3,500 seasonal employees each summer. To support this big seasonal hiring spike, the Yellowstone team launched an employee generated content campaign by using the hashtag #yellowstonejobs.
The Yellowstone team reshared employee content and used the employee’s original caption to capture an honest and authentic perspective, to set expectations for what working at Yellowstone is really like.
