RallyFwd™ On Demand: The Right and Wrong Approach to Engaging Diverse Talent
Attracting diverse talent is too often just another bullet on a recruitment strategy. Companies that are truly committed to attracting and retaining a diverse workforce understand that their focus on inclusion must be represented in every aspect of how they do business, and yes, that includes how they recruit talent. Over the past 11 years, Katrina Fowler has learned the difference between leading and ineffective approaches to connect with diverse talent; thinking of it as a one-off campaign or event is an example of the latter. The best method is to concentrate on building long-term relationships.
In this RallyFwd On Demand video, Katrina presents her techniques for partnering with professional and student organizations that are comprised of diverse talent, such as the National Association of Black Accountants and Women in Technology. She shares some of the sponsorships and events that she’s participated in, and how she fosters relationships created through those activities in order to position her company as an employer of choice. Katrina also shares how she mobilizes employees as brand ambassadors in these efforts, and how to leverage employee resource groups (ERGs) if you have them (and what to do if you don’t). You’ll walk away with strategies for being more intentional in how you attract and engage diverse candidates so that you can develop a more reliably diverse talent pipeline over time.
